Family Vacation at Hilton Head, South Carolina |
From August 2006 - August 2010, I had a blog at www.xanga.com/popfarm and I have to say, I absolutely loved doing it. My little blog was my "happy place"--where for four years I documented much of what was good in my life. When I began blogging, my goal was to keep a journal for my children that I ultimately hoped to print out, bind into a book and give to them when they graduated from high school. However, somewhere along the way, my blog came to mean much more to me. Not only was it a way for me to document my kids' childhood, it also became a way to capture those ordinary moments that make life so extraordinary. As a result of blogging, I found myself living my life in a much more intentional manner.
Unfortunately, two years ago my life became crazy-busy and something had to go. Between teaching 7 classes a year at our local university, homeschooling the kids and doing a myriad of other activities, I decided that "something" was to give up blogging. However, I have missed it. I've missed recording how my children have grown and blossomed over the past few years and I've missed seeing all the beauty and goodness in our lives--captured in a way that allows me to savor it for years to come.
Consequently, I've decided to begin blogging again in 2013 and have started a new blog--Miles With Smiles--of course, there's a good story behind that name. I plan to eventually transfer my old blog onto this one (most likely one entry at a time unless I can figure out a better way) and I also hope to capture some of the highlights from the past two years when I wasn't blogging.
In the meantime, it feels good (and right) to be doing this again.
